Open a Project

A Project is the unit of workspace selection on the iPhone. It is how you choose which folder on which Mac Codex should work in.

Even if the repository name is the same, it is a different Project when it lives on a different Mac. The easiest way to think about this screen is: choose which workspace on which Mac you want to open.

Where to open a Project

  • Home Best for resuming quickly from recent projects or favorites.
  • Projects Best when you want the full list.

How to open one

  1. Open Home or Projects.
  2. Tap the Project you want.
  3. Wait for the branch and Thread information to load.
  4. Open an existing Thread or start New Thread.

When you switch Projects, the Thread list, branch information, and available command or skill suggestions all switch with it.

When to use Home versus Projects

  • use recent projects or favorites in Home for the workspaces you open every day
  • use Projects when you want to compare the full list or open something less frequent
  • when you have multiple Macs registered, look at the Host as well before choosing between projects with similar names

What you can do from the Projects list

  • add to favorites
  • reorder
  • edit
  • delete
  • add a new Project

When you add one from + in Projects, choose the Host first and then set the Working Directory. Browse on Mac helps you choose while looking at folders on the Mac.

If you are unsure

It is easier to manage away from the desk when you do not add too many Projects at once. Starting with the ones you use every day makes Home enough for most cases.
